A horse riding holiday is an excellent opportunity to explore the outer world and its beautiful scenery while enjoying the nature. There are many different horse riding holidays available for your choice. You will have to decide if you will be taking your own horse or using the horses that are provided by the riding centres.

You may also have to think about the type of accommodation you may choose for the holiday. Some prefer to rest in a luxurious hotel after a ride, some prefer to camp out, while others may prefer to take their holiday on a working farm.

There are three types; singles holidays, couples holidays & family holidays.

Singles holidays

There are horse riding centres that have holidays specifically designed for people who are single. These holidays are great for independent travellers who want to enjoy good riding and excellent cuisine while being in the mist of friendly people.

These centres specialize is serving singles, some even offer online bulletin boards so you can post and read messages before you go on your holiday. This allows you to meet your fellow guests that will be travelling with you before you even arrive.

Couples holidays

If you are going as a couple may be you are looking for a romantic getaway which happens to include horseback riding, or you and your partner want to relax but also need to further develop your riding skills. Some of these centres focus more on romance like candlelit dinners, private villas next to a beach, etc. Some centres will recognize you as a couple, so you may get certain romantic perks, but the whole idea will be to advance your riding skills.

Family holidays

While you are on family holiday, ask whether your whole family wants to spend the entire vacation riding horses. If you have children that would rather ride the horses a bit, then partake in other centre activities; such as a laser blast area, laser clays, bungee trampolines, or climbing walls.

You may also explore the rugged coastline, ride through the striking countryside, or trot along the beach at sunset, all that will make your family horse riding holiday a great experience.

Is Horse Riding Safe for children?

Every parent or guardian know that horse riding is a sport which involves an animal that can be unpredictable and volatile at times, not to mention the fact that the child himself could fall from a great height or at great speed. Parents may find themselves asking is horse riding safe for my child? Though horse riding can be risky, children can derive lot of pleasure and benefits from the sport.

Safety Equipment:

First of all your child should have right safety equipment. A riding hat is the most important thing. It is better to buy brand new and have it fitted properly. Some riding schools will also lend hats out, but then you should be sure about the safety of these equipments.

If a child starts learning to ride very early it can be a huge benefit for him. It becomes more natural to him to ride well and the chances of having silly accidents are lower. The child will be more in tune with the horse and what it plans to do. The child will also learn how to avert accidents and collisions and if he does fall, he will be far more likely to get straight back on the animal.

All sports have their own risks, but accidents on horses are actually few and far between. If your child has all the right safety equipments, even if he does fall from the horse, he should be well protected.

Remember, the child will certainly not be nervous as the parent. So, when you do take your child horse riding for the first time, you must not let your nervousness be passed on to your child. Because if he realize you are scared he may become nervous himself, which could result in more accidents and injuries.
